One year after deadly flooding killed more than 100 people across Texas during the Fourth of July weekend, communities like Hays County are taking new steps to prepare for the next major storm.

Now a year since catastrophic flooding in neighboring parts of the Texas Hill Country, two communities have taken two very different paths to recovery.
